145.02 SENIORITY; PROBATIONARY STATUS.
   (a)   Seniority. “Seniority” means the status attained by length of continuous service following the successful completion of a probationary period. The employee’s continuous service date shall be retroactive to the first day the employee entered Village service. This shall indicate time worked including leave of absence granted for illness and for United States Military Service, but excluding personal leave of absence exceeding thirty days.
   (b)   Probationary Status. During the twelve month probationary period, which runs from date of hire, an employee may be discharged or laid off without regard to seniority, and through the procedure set out in the Ohio Revised Code.
   (c)   Sickness or Disability. Any employee who is unable to work because of sickness or disability shall accumulate seniority during this period of sickness or disability. The Village may request verification of such sickness or disability from a doctor who is treating the employee.
   (d)   Seniority List Application. Separate seniority shall accrue for full time employees and for part time employees. An employee moving from part time to full time shall accrue full time seniority on the first day the employee became a full time employee. An employee who has a break in service shall start anew with seniority from the first day of the last hire.
