§ 52.07  READING OF WATER METERS; CUSTOMER RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
   (A)   All water meters shall be easily accessible for the purpose of town or Water Department employees reading or maintaining the same for Water Department purposes.
      (1)   The duty to keep such meters accessible shall be on the owner and, if applicable, tenant of the property served by such meter.
      (2)   ACCESSIBLE shall mean free from any impediment such as a locked gate, enclosure, or unchained domestic animal which would make it unsafe or unreasonable for a person going onto the customer’s property.
   (B)   (1)   If the town or Water Department determines a water meter to be inaccessible, notice shall be sent to the customer along with a request to remedy the situation and make the meter accessible.
      (2)   In the event the customer fails to comply with the notice to remedy the situation within 30 days after such notice is sent, an additional notice shall be sent setting a date for compliance.
      (3)   Said date for compliance shall be no earlier than ten days after the date of said additional notice, after which the town or Water Department shall be entitled to disconnect water service to the property until the deficiency is corrected.
