149.05 OVERTIME COMPENSATION; CERTIFICATION.
   (a)   Any nonexempt officer required to work in excess of a forty hour week shall be compensated at the rate of pay as set forth. Overtime compensation will be paid only for work of an emergency nature that cannot be performed during the personnel’s regular work week and that the Village Clerk-Treasurer is hereby prohibited from making such payments for overtime work unless a certificate is first filed with the Clerk by the appropriate authority stating that the work so ordered was of an emergency nature and that such work could not be completed during the regular work week, and setting forth the reason for ordering such work. The certification shall be in such form as the Village may direct.
(Ord. 11-86. Passed 5-19-86.)

   (b)   For the purposes of paying salaries and compensation to officers and employees of the Village, overtime pay for hours worked at the rate of one and one-half times the current rate of pay will be paid to employees who are required to work on holidays or personal days. For those officers or employees who are normally scheduled to work on holidays, the Village reserves the right to compensate the employee by allowing the employee to take the same number of hours off as was worked on that holiday.

   (c)   For the purpose of calculating payroll, the hours that would have been worked by an officer or employee on a holiday, sick day or vacation day will be counted toward the requirement of working forty or forty-four hours per week.
