137.05 DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL.
   The Police Department shall consist of the Police Chief, one (1) Sergeant, up to two (2) full-time patrol officers, and up to eight (8) part-time officers.

137.06 CHIEF OF POLICE'S RESIDENCY.
   Council does hereby waive the requirement that the Village’s Chief of Police live within the Village Corporation limit. (Ord. 07-2021. Passed 2-1-21.)
137.07 DEPARTMENT SCHEDULING.
   (a)   The Chief of Police shall be solely responsible for creating the Department’s schedule. The Mayor shall be provided a copy and notified in writing of any changes to the schedule.
   (b)   The Chief of Police shall make every effort to schedule no more than one hundred eighty-four (184) weekly on-duty hours for the Department. Special necessary circumstances (e.g. training hours, event coverage, etc.) shall be exempt.
   (c)   The Chief of Police shall make every effort to reduce and/or eliminate overtime by moving shifts, scheduling part-time officers, and/or picking up the shifts personally.

137.08 CHIEF OF POLICE SHALL HAVE NO OTHER EMPLOYMENT.
   The Chief of Police shall not be employed by another police department or have any other employment which limits his/her availability to the Village of Genoa.

137.09 CHIEF OF POLICE SHALL BE A WORKING CHIEF.
   The Chief of Police is hereby required to be working Chief of Police, to work as an active officer on duty, including observation of the activities of the village throughout various times of day to assess law enforcement needs. He/she shall dedicate approximately half of his/her time to routine patrol duties, and half to administrative responsibilities.
