10-3-2: INTENT OF THE ZONING DISTRICTS:
The purpose of the intent section is to show the present character and to guide future development of each zoning district.
   (A)   Residential District (R): The intent of the R district is to establish, develop and protect a quiet residential area with variety of residential dwellings and densities, free from other uses except those which are both compatible with and convenient to the residents of such districts.
   (B)   Central Business District (C1): The intent of the C1 district is to establish and preserve a central business district convenient and attractive for a wide range of retail uses and business, government and professional offices and places of amusement in a setting conducive to and safe for pedestrian traffic.
   (C)   General Service District (C2): The intent of the C2 district is to establish and preserve areas for commercial uses which require large parking and storage spaces and are located on major collector thoroughfares.
   (D)   Light Industrial District (IL): The intent of the IL district is to establish and preserve areas for industrial and related uses which depend on outdoor activities and display, fabrication, assembling, manufacturing and processing in limited scope. Provisions are made for certain kinds of commercial uses which are necessary to service the immediate needs of people in the IL areas. Performance standards are herewith established to protect the health, safety and welfare of the permanent and temporary inhabitants of this and neighboring zones.
   (E)   Heavy Industrial District (IH): The intent of the IH district is to establish and preserve areas for industrial and related uses of such a nature that they require isolation from nonindustrial land uses and have a reasonable access to major collector thoroughfares. Provisions are made for certain kinds of commercial uses which are necessary to service the immediate needs of people in the IH areas. Performance standards are herewith established to protect the health, safety and welfare of the permanent and temporary inhabitants of this and neighboring zones.
   (F)   Agricultural-Open Space District (A-OS): The intent of the A-OS district is to establish and preserve areas of agriculture, conservation, amenities and economic development which require substantial areas of land. (Ord. 230, 6-21-1976)
