6-1-4: SPEED LIMITS:
   A.   Basic Rule: From the effective date hereof, no person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard for the actual and potential hazards then existing. Consistent with the foregoing, every person shall drive a safe and appropriate speed approaching and crossing an intersection or railroad grade crossing, when approaching and going around a curve, when approaching a hill crest, when traveling upon a narrow or winding roadway, and when special hazards exist with respect to pedestrians or other traffic, or by reason of weather or highway conditions.
   B.   Platted Subdivisions: No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than twenty five (25) miles per hour on any street, road, or other public way in platted subdivisions unless otherwise designated herein.
   C.   Designated Limits: The Gem County commissioners, after conducting a traffic investigation and consulting with representative(s) from the Gem County road department, are hereby authorized to establish and alter specific speed limits throughout Gem County. The established speed limits for Gem County will be in accordance with the speed limit schedule adopted by resolution of the Gem County commission. A copy of current speed limits will be on file in the office of the clerk of the district court. (Ord. 2001-07, 4-24-2001, eff. 5-3-2001)
