All receipts of money belonging to the city, or any branch thereof, excepting only those funds collected by the county treasurer, shall be paid into the city treasurer by the person authorized to receive the same at the close of each business day. All such moneys, and also all moneys received upon tax settlements from the county treasurer, shall be deposited as soon as practicable but no later than one week from receipt.
