The purpose of the I-3 District is to provide for the establishment of heavy industrial and manufacturing development and uses which, due to their size and nature, would not be appropriate in the I-1 or I-2 Districts. Since heavy industrial activities often require large amounts of water, the I-3 District is located in close proximity to the municipal water supply and sewer treatment plant.
