§ 31.010 CHIEF OF POLICE; POWERS AND DUTIES.
   (A)   The Department of Police shall be headed by the Chief of Police, who shall be the commanding officer of the police force. He shall direct the police work of the city, and shall be responsible for the enforcement of law and order. (‘83 Code, § 31.05)
   (B)   In case of the Police Chief’s absence from the city, or his disability or inability from any cause to act as Chief of Police, the City Manager shall designate and appoint a member of the Police Department to act as Chief during such absence or disability. (‘83 Code, § 31.08)
   (C)   The Chief of Police shall assume the duties of Traffic Engineer. (‘83 Code, § 31.12)
