§ 50.01 PIT METER POLICY.
   (A)   Purpose. The purpose of this section is to adopt a formal policy for installation of pit meters within the corporation limits of the village.
   (B)   Installation. The village shall purchase and install the pit, casting, meter and meter setter and make connection to the service line. The user shall excavate and backfill the area for placement of the pit meter. The excavation and backfill will be performed under the surveillance of village personnel.
   (C)   Change out. If the village changes the location of the meter location, i.e., from inside the house to a pit meter, it will be the sole expense of the village.
   (D)   Costs. The cost for placing a pit meter in at a new residence, five-eighths by three-fourths meter, will be included in the tap fee paid by the user. The user will be responsible for the excavation for placement of pit meter under direction of village staff.
   (E)   Repair and replacement. After installation of the pit meter, the village will maintain and/or replace pit meters. This is the basis of charging the user for the purchase of larger meters. Larger meters require more maintenance; flow calibration and repairable components. Residential meters do not.
   (F)   Maintenance. The village will inspect meters four times a calendar year. In event of a faulty meter, the village will repair or replace the meter at its expense.
