The purpose of subchapter is to establish minimum regulations for the display of signs in the village. (In § 155.004 there are also important definitions of the various types of signs discussed in this subchapter.) There is a significant relationship between the manner in which signs are displayed, public safety and the value and economic stability of adjoining property. The reasonable display of signs is necessary as a public service and to the conduct of competitive commerce. This section is designed to maintain the attractive landscape and appearance of the village to the benefit of the public welfare and health by restricting the type, size, number and design of signs and outdoor advertisements.
