§ 150.083 EXAMINATION REQUIRED.
   (A)   Before an electrical contractor’s license shall be issued, the applicant shall, following reasonable advance notice, present himself or herself for examination before the Board at a time and place set by them. The Board shall examine the applicant as to his or her practical knowledge of the installation and alteration of electrical equipment, and his or her knowledge of the rules and regulations for the installation of electrical wiring devices and equipment. This examination shall consist of two written parts. The first part shall be closed book and consist of questions which test the individual’s knowledge of general wiring principles. The second part shall be open book and consist of questions which test the applicant’s ability to use the formulas and tables found in the Electrical Code. The applicant must score a minimum of 70% to pass. If the applicant fails the test the first time, there shall be a 30-day waiting period from the test date before it can be retaken. Should the applicant fail the second test or each test thereafter, there shall be a six-month waiting period from the date of the last test before being retested.
   (B)   Prior to taking the examination the applicant shall pay a $50 nonrefundable examination fee. The fee shall be paid each time the test is taken.
   (C)   An electrical contractor who is licensed with another city shall not be required to be tested, provided the other community utilizes the National Electrical Code, and a test comparable to the city’s examination has been passed in the other city. In this case, the contractor must submit a copy of his or her license along with the proper bond and insurance as provided for in this subchapter. The registration fee shall be waived, provided the electrical contractor has paid a registration fee in the other community of at least the amount required by the city. If the registration fee paid is lower than the city’s fee, the difference between the two shall be paid to the city. This does not prohibit the transfer of an out-of-state license.
