§ 112.05 SAFETY REQUIREMENT.
Proof of good mechanical condition of each taxicab shall be submitted to the Chief of Police when the taxicab is placed into service. The taxicab must then be retested every six months after the initial test. The safety test sticker will indicate the month and year the test expires, and it will be the taxicab owner’s obligation to ensure each taxicab has a current safety test sticker. The proof shall consist of a certificate signed by the operator of one of the public garages approved by the Chief of Police to the effect that an inspection has been made of the taxicab which shows that the steering mechanism, tires, brakes and lighting equipment are in good and safe operating condition. The expense of procuring and furnishing the certificate shall be borne by the owner of the taxicab for which the permit is issued or sought.
