(A) Classified positions. The monthly or hourly salary paid an employee or officer of the city whose position has been classified shall not be less than the beginning salary step for this position nor more than the maximum payable to his or her position based on current salary amounts as approved by the City Council in the annual budget for each fiscal year.
(B) Unclassified positions. The salaries paid to persons holding unclassified positions shall not be less than the beginning salary for the position nor more than the maximum payable for the position, where applicable, based on current salary amounts as approved by the City Council in the annual budget for each fiscal year.
