§ 91.070 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   AIRPORT. The airport located in Galesburg Township, Knox County, Illinois.
   AIRPORT ELEVATION. The highest point of the usable landing area of the airport, established at 763 feet above mean sea level.
   AIRPORT HAZARD. Any structure or growth or use of land which obstructs the air space required for the flight of aircraft in landing or taking off at the airport or is otherwise hazardous to the landing or taking off of aircraft.
   AIRPORT HAZARD AREA. An area of land or water, or both, upon which an airport hazard might be established if not prevented as provided in this subchapter, including any area which has been declared to be an AIRPORT HAZARD AREA by the Department of Aeronautics of the state in connection with any airport approach plan adopted by the Department.
   AIRPORT REFERENCE POINT. A point located at the approximate geometrical center of the airport landing area arbitrarily selected and established as shown and described on the airport zoning and approach plan.
   AUTHORITY. The City of Galesburg, Illinois.
   BOARD. The Planning and Zoning Commission for the city which will, from time to time, sit as the Board of Appeals for the Airport Zoning Administration.
   GROWTH. Any object of natural growth.
   LANDING AREA. The area of the airport that is used for landing, takeoff or taxiing of aircraft.
   LANDING STRIP. The portion of the usable area within the airport boundary, which either in its natural state or as a result of construction work is suitable for the landing and takeoff of aircraft under favorable weather conditions, the landing strip having a width of 400 feet, one-half of which shall be parallel to and on either side of the centerline.
   MAP. The airport zoning and approach plan, which is on file in the office of the City Clerk, approved on August 18, 1967, by Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics, as the same may be amended and supplemented, which map being incorporated herein, and made a part hereof by reference.
   NONCONFORMING USE. Any structure or growth or use of land which does not conform to a regulation prescribed in this subchapter or an amendment thereto, as of the effective date of the regulations.
   PERSON. Any individual, firm, copartnership, corporation, company, association, joint stock association or body politic, including any trustee, receiver, assignee or other similar representative thereof, and including the state and the Department of Aeronautics of the state.
   RUNWAY. The paved, surfaced, stabilized or otherwise improved central portion of the landing strip.
   STRUCTURE. Any object constructed or installed by humans, including but without limitation buildings, towers, smokestacks, aerials and overhead transmission lines.
   TURNING ZONE. Comprises all the land under the horizontal and conical surfaces, not under an approach of transition surface.
   ZONE. The air space delimited by the airport-referenced imaginary surfaces.
   ZONING ADMINISTRATION. The Planning Commission for the city which will, from time to time, sit as the Airport Zoning Administration.
