This subchapter’s purpose shall be to further the policy of the United States and the state as expressed in their Constitution and law; to further understanding among people, and to protect and ensure peace, health, safety and general welfare of all inhabitants of the city. It is hereby declared to be the policy of the city that discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and financing based on race, color, sex, religion, age, ancestry, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, military status, unfavorable military discharge, or physical or mental disability unrelated to ability is prohibited.
