(A) The Clerk shall be compensated depending on his or her level of certification with the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. The compensation schedule shall be as follows:
(1) A clerk without any certification from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks shall be compensated $5,100 per year.
(2) A clerk that has obtained Certified Municipal Clerk certification from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks shall be compensated $7,100 per year.
(3) A clerk that has obtained Certified Municipal Clerk certification and Master Municipal Clerk certification from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks shall be compensated $9,100 per year.
(B) Any increase or decrease in the salary of the Clerk that differs from the salary schedule set forth in this section shall not take effect during the term for which that Clerk is elected. The salary shall be fixed at least 180 days before the beginning of the term of the officer whose compensation is to be fixed.
