(A) General provisions. The following sections of the bicycle trail in the city, owned and maintained by the city, are excluded from access and use by equestrian animals, horse drawn vehicles of any kind, and motor vehicles as defined in the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code:
(1) On the trail from the southern city limits located on the west side of Fourth Street north until its connection with the Fulton Flood Control District's levee.
(2) On the trail from Tenth Avenue north to the city limits on the west side of State Route 84.
(B) Stop sign specifications.
(1) Every sign shall bear the word “Stop” in letters not less than six inches in height, except if in the option of the Chief of Police, a small sign is appropriate in which case the letters shall be not less than four inches in height.
(2) Every stop sign shall be located as near as practicable to the nearest line of the intersecting roadway.
(C) Operator regulations. Every driver or operator of a bicycle, as that term may be defined in the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code, approaching a stop sign shall stop before entering the cross walk on the near side of the intersection, or in the event there is no crosswalk, shall stop at a clearly marked stop sign, but if none, then at a point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting highway before entering the intersection, except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic control signal.
(D) Stop intersections. The following intersections of streets or highways in the city with the bike trail are designated as “stop intersections” and shall have erected signs bearing the word “Stop” at one or more entrances to the intersections as listed hereinafter opposite the stop intersection designated.
