Before entering upon his or her duties, the Mayor shall give bond in such amount and with such sureties as may be required by the City Council, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of his or her office. He or she shall take the oath of office as prescribed by statute and shall receive such compensation as may be set from time to time by the Council.
