§ 28-33 ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE.
   There is hereby created and established in the Police Department an office or position designated as Assistant Chief of Police. The duties of the Assistant Chief of Police shall be those of a police officer and other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Police. The person holding the Office of Assistant Chief of Police shall be second in authority to the Chief of Police and shall act as Chief of Police in the absence of the Chief of Police.
