(a) The department shall provide strategic and operational planning on a city-wide basis for all of the city’s information technology.
(b) The department shall manage the procurement of information technology used by the city, including without limitation, telephone, radio and computer systems, internet and intranet based systems and software application systems. The department shall also provide operational support and services for this information technology.
(c) The department shall construct and operate the city’s shared information technology infrastructure and establish standards therefor.
(d) The department shall develop and/or acquire new information technology services as necessary in order to support the city’s strategic directions and operations.
