The Director of Public Works or his or her designee, the City Superintendent or his or her designee, the chief law enforcement officer or any other department supervisor is hereby authorized to negotiate with property owners for the purpose of ensuring compliance with codes or specifications within a given time from notice of violation. All agreements must be ratified by the City Council. Said municipal employees are not authorized to suspend ordinances, specifications or codes, but may delay enforcement or extend the period permitted for compliance for a reasonable time pursuant to a written promise by the affected party to comply.
