§ 35.72 MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE.
   The age of retirement for members of the Police Department and any paid member of the Fire Department shall be when the member reaches his 65th birthday. Furthermore, every member of the Police Department or paid member of the Fire Department, over the age of 55, shall obtain, for continuation of employment, a certification from his or her physician, at least once per calendar year, that he or she is fit for active law enforcement or fire service, as appropriate. All members of either Department shall retire at the age of retirement set forth herein and may no longer be appointed or serve as a member of the Police or Fire Department after reaching age of retirement set forth herein.
