§ 35.72 ORAL INTERVIEW.
   Subsequent to the certification of the final eligibility list, an oral interview shall be conducted with applicants maintaining the highest final scores on the eligibility list. The exact number of applicants invited for an oral interview shall be based upon the overall strength of applicants and number of current vacancies however, shall always include a minimum of the top five scorers on the eligibility list. Additional applicants may be invited to participate, at the discretion of the city, and shall be selected based upon the highest remaining scores on the eligibility list, descending from highest to lowest. The oral interview committee shall consist of the Mayor, City Administrative Officer, Safety Committee of Council (three members) and chief of the respective department. At the conclusion of the oral interview, committee members shall forward recommendation(s) for appointment to the Mayor. The Mayor, as the appointing authority, may select any of the final applicants for appointment to the Police or Fire Department.
