(A) The Street Superintendent shall serve as the Town Forester for the Town of Fremont.
(B) (1) There is hereby created and established a Town Tree Preservation Board (Board) for the Town of Fremont consisting of 5 members.
(2) The members shall consist of the Town Forester or his or her designee, 1 member of the Town Council as appointed by the Town Council, 1 member of the Park Board as appointed by the Park Board President and 2 town residents initially selected from the Tree Ordinance Committee at an open public meeting.
(3) Thereafter, the Town Council shall select 2 town residents for each subsequent Board.
(C) (1) The term of the Board members shall be 3 years except that the term of the Park Board and Town Council members appointed to the first Board shall be for only 1 year.
(2) In the event that a vacancy shall occur during the term of any member, his or her successor shall be appointed by the Town Council for the unexpired portion of the term.
(3) Following expiration of these members’ terms, the positions will be filled according to procedures established in open public meeting by the Board.
(D) Members of the Board shall serve without compensation.
