(A) The town, after taking custody of the abandoned vehicle and parts and filing the report with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, will attempt to notify the owner and any lienholder of the location of the vehicle or parts.
(B) Within 72 hours after removal of a vehicle to a storage yard or towing service, the town or towing service shall conduct a search of national databases, including a database of vehicle identification numbers, to attempt to obtain the name and address of the person who owns or holds a lien on the vehicle.
(C) If the town obtains the name and address of the person who owns or holds a lien on the vehicle, within 72 hours after obtaining the name and address, the town shall, by certified mail, notify the owner or lien holder of the name, address, and telephone number of the town.
