(a) "Public Fire Hydrant" refers to hydrants installed in the public right-of-way, an easement granted to the municipality, or on public facility grounds with the primary intended use by the fire department in fire-fighting activities.
(b) "Class A Private Hydrant" refers to a hydrant on private property which is accessible to city forces for fire-fighting activities and inspection.
(c) "Class B Private Hydrant" refers to a hydrant on private property connected to a fire suppression system or existing in an inaccessible area and is not intended for use in fire-fighting activities by city forces.
(d) "Inaccessible area" refers to private property protected by a fence, gate, guard shack, or some other apparatus restricting access to the general public.
(e) "Maintenance" refers to required repairs or preventative measures taken to ensure adequate function of a hydrant.
(f) "Inspection" refers to verification of function, flow testing, and winterization of a hydrant.
(g) "Hydrant Owner" refers to the business or individual who owns the private property where a hydrant is installed.
