(a) No person shall operate a golf cart or UTV on the streets within the City unless the golf cart or UTV has been inspected and approved by the Chief of Police or designee for compliance with the State of Ohio’s statutory requirements that are applicable to motor vehicles.
(b) The owner or operator of any golf cart or UTV shall be required to pay an inspection fee as established by the Chief of Police. If the Chief of Police or designee determines that the golf cart or UTV complies with the State of Ohio’s requirements applicable to motor vehicles, the Chief of Police or designee shall issue the owner or operator a certificate of compliance entitling the owner or operator to operate the golf cart or UTV on the streets within the City of Fremont. The owner or operator shall also show the Chief of Police or designee proof of liability insurance for the golf cart or UTV before a certificate of compliance is issued.
(c) The owner of a golf cart or UTV shall comply with all requirements of Ohio law regarding proper title, registration and license plates prior to operating a golf cart or UTV on any street within the City of Fremont. No person shall operate a golf cart or UTV on any street within the City in violation of this requirement.
(d) No person shall operate a golf cart or UTV on any street within the City which has a posted speed limit exceeding 35 mph.
(e) No person shall operate a golf cart or UTV on any street within the City without illuminated headlights. (Ord. 2019-3969. Passed 8-1-19.)
