§ 97.56  SAFETY WALKS; BARRIERS.
   (A)   It shall be the duty of every person making any cut or excavation in any street, alley, sidewalk, or other public place, to maintain a safe crossing for pedestrians and to maintain safe crossings for vehicles and other traffic at all street intersections.

   (B)   It shall be the duty of every person making any cut or excavation in any street, alley, sidewalk, or other public place, to place and maintain suitable barriers at each end of such excavation to prevent accidents; and to also place and maintain lights or flares at each end of such excavation, and at distances of not more than 50 feet apart along the line thereof from sunset each day to sunrise the following day until such excavation is entirely refilled to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
