1272.03 PARKING LOT LANDSCAPING.
   Parking bays in excess of ten (10) spaces shall provide landscaping at the end of each aisle. Parking bays in excess of twenty (20) spaces shall be divided by intermediate landscape islands and provide landscaping at the ends of each aisle. Landscape islands, both interior and at the end of each aisle, shall be a minimum of one hundred and fifty (150) square feet for single bays and three hundred (300) square feet for double bays. Concrete curbs shall be installed around ail landscaping in parking areas. All landscape islands shall be crowned to allow for positive drainage and shall contain a minimum of twenty-four (24) inches of topsoil. One shade or ornamental tree shall be required for every three hundred (300) square feet of landscaping in landscape islands. Parking lot layout shall be in accordance with Chapter 1262 of the Codified Ordinances of Freeport, Illinois. Coordination of parking lot lighting or utility locations and tree placement is required prior to final landscape plan approval. Existing developments that are nonconforming with regard to this section must be brought into conformity when a new parking lot or paved area is proposed. This section shall also apply when an existing parking lot is reconstructed where such reconstruction involves the removal, grinding, or the replacement of the existing surface.
