In all Business Districts, permitted signs are subject to the following requirements:
(a) Area. The gross area of a sign or signs on any wall of a principal building shall not exceed the following:
(1) For walls not exceeding 600 square feet in area, a sign not exceeding twenty percent of the wall area, including windows and doors, shall be allowed.
(2) For walls having a gross area of more than 600 square feet but less than 1,600 square feet in area, a sign not exceeding fifteen percent of the wall area, including windows and doors, shall be allowed.
(3) For walls having a gross area of more than 1,600 square feet in area, a sign not exceeding ten percent of the wall area, including windows and doors shall be allowed.
(b) Location. A sign may front on the front, side or rear wall or walls of the principal building. No sign, except those suspended from buildings, shall be erected or placed between the street line and the building line.
(c) Projections. A sign suspended from a building shall conform to the following:
(1) The bottom of a projecting sign shall not be less than ten feet above the finished grade of the sidewalk.
(2) No projecting sign shall exceed twelve feet in height (exclusive of supports).
(3) The exact location and arrangement of a projecting sign shall be subject to the approval of the Zoning Administrator.
(4) No sign in any other location shall project more than five feet beyond the building line of the building from which it is suspended.
