1440.02 BUILDING COMMISSION.
   (a)   The administration of this Building and Housing Code shall be under the jurisdiction, supervision and control of a Building Commission, which is hereby established. The members of this Building Commission shall be the Mayor, or his or her designee, as Chairperson, and six persons appointed by the Mayor for four-year terms, with the consent of Council. The Mayoral appointees shall be a building contractor, a licensed plumber, a licensed electrician, a licensed heating and air conditioning contractor, a licensed professional engineer or architect and an at-large member.

   (b)   Each member of the Building Commission shall draw lots and be assigned to a scheduled term expiration date so that the terms of no more than two members and no less than one member shall expire in the same calendar year. Each member's term shall expire on May 1. After the initial term, each member shall be appointed to a four-year term to ensure that only a portion of the terms of the Commission membership shall expire in any one year.

   (c)   The Building Commission may, from time to time, adopt administrative and auxiliary rules for the enforcement of this Building and Housing Code, which rules shall not be inconsistent with the provisions of this Building and Housing Code. (1977 Code §6-803)
   (d)   Except as may otherwise be provided by ordinance, the fiscal responsibility of the Building Commission is of an advisory nature only, and the Commission shall not have authority to authorize the expenditure of public funds. (Ord. 95-2. Passed 2-6-95.)
