1024.28 LENGTH OF TRENCHES; BRACING.
   (a)   Except by special permission from the Public Works Director, no trench shall be excavated more than 250 feet in advance of pipe laying nor left unfilled more than 500 feet where pipe has been laid. The length of the trench which may be opened at any one time shall not be greater than the length of pipe and necessary accessories available at the site and ready to be put in place.
   (b)   Trenches shall be braced and sheathed according to generally accepted safety standards, as prescribed by the Public Works Director. No timber bracing, lagging, sheathing or other lumber shall be left in the trench.
