242.07 DISTRICT CHIEF.
   A District Chief shall be in command of his or her shift and during that period shall have charge of and responsibility for the condition and good order of the physical facilities and equipment of the Department. The District Chief shall be responsible for the discipline of the members of the Department on duty under his or her command. At fires occurring during his or her shift, the District Chief shall assume command unless and until the Fire Chief or Deputy Chief arrives. When more than one shift is in service, the on-duty District Chief shall be in command and the off-duty District Chief(s) shall be second in command. There shall be three District Chiefs in the Department.
