222.07 VETO OR APPROVAL BY MAYOR.
All ordinances passed by Council shall, before taking effect, be deposited with the City Clerk. The Mayor shall either approve the same by signature or return the same to Council, with his or her objections, in writing, at the first meeting of Council held not less than five days after passage of such ordinances. Such veto may extend to any one or more separable items, or appropriations, contained therein, or to the entire ordinance. If the veto only extends to a part of such ordinance, the residue thereof shall take effect and be in force. In the absence of a veto in the aforesaid manner, and in the time aforesaid, the Mayor shall be deemed to have approved the particular ordinance, and the same shall take effect accordingly.
