§ 93.11 GRAVE MARKERS, MONUMENTS.
   (A)   Monuments are placed in the cemetery at the owner’s risk and the town assumes no responsibility for damage or loss due to vandalism, elements, settling, and so forth.
   (B)   All monuments shall be constructed of stone, metal or other durable weather resistant material approved by the Cemetery Manager.
   (C)   All monuments must be placed on a foundation constructed either of stone or cement, extending four to six inches outward from the monument with the thickness and strength sufficient to withstand the weight of the monument without cracking.
   (D)   Grave markers or monuments are to be placed on the west end of the grave or lot with the name of the deceased plainly inscribed thereon and set in a manner allowing it to be read by standing west of the grave or lot and facing east.
   (E)   Monument height shall not exceed 42 inches above the ground surface. Single markers and foundations shall not exceed 48 inches in width and 30 inches in length. Double markers and foundations shall not exceed 94 inches in width and 30 inches in length. Dimensions of double markers and foundations set on one regular grave lot shall be the same as for single markers. Width is measured side to side and length is measured head to toe of the grave lot.
   (F)   Monument or monument foundations exceeding maximum dimensions shall not be erected in the cemetery unless a plan is submitted to the Cemetery Committee for review with final approval by the Town Council.
   (G)   Military issue headstones may be placed at the foot of a soldier’s grave if so desired but shall lay flat and flush with the foundation or mow strip so as not to interfere with the care and maintenance of the cemetery.
