The board of county commissioners in its sole discretion may provide all or part payments for the legal defense and damages for court actions involving county officers or employees who are sued in their individual capacities for alleged wrongs arising out of performing their duties as county officers or employees, if the board of county commissioners determines that the officers or employees acted in a prudent manner in the matter which is the subject of a suit at law or in equity.
