8-1-4: METERS:
   A.   General Requirements: All meters shall be purchased through the city for the city's cost by the property owner. The owner is responsible for all plumbing to the meter. All new meters installed shall be of the remote reader type and installed as close to the water inlet line as deemed possible, with a shutoff valve before the meter. The city shall maintain and repair, at its expense, any meter that has become unserviceable through ordinary wear and tear and shall replace it if necessary. Where repair or replacement is made necessary by act or neglect of the owner or occupant of the premises it serves, any city expense caused thereby shall be a charge against and collected from the water consumer, and water service may be discontinued until the cause is corrected and the amount charged is paid.
   B.   Lawn Meters: An additional meter may be purchased through the city for the city's cost by the property owner to be used for watering purposes. The property owner will only be billed the monthly water base and consumption charges for water used from the additional meter during the months the second service is used.
   C.   Reading Meters: Meters will be read every month. Authorized employees of the city water department may legally enter upon any water customer's premises at a reasonable hour for the purpose of reading water meters. (Ord. 125, 12-6-2004)
