A. Weight And Load Limits Established: No person shall operate any vehicle having any axle load in excess of sixteen thousand (16,000) pounds and/or having a gross weight in excess of fifty four thousand (54,000) pounds on any highways within the Village except when the above limits will be reduced during the spring breakup period.
B. Reduction Of Weight And Load Limits:
1. The Village Board of Trustees may reduce the weight limitations on highways found incapable of supporting vehicles with axle loads of sixteen thousand (16,000) pounds.
2. During the season of the year when the frost is leaving the ground, the load limit on all Village roads shall be reduced to the following gross weights:
2 axles, single rear tire | 7,000 pounds |
2 axles, dual rear tires | 16,000 pounds |
3 or more axles, dual rear tires | 25,000 pounds |
C. Signs To Be Posted: The Village Trustee having charge of the streets, roads and highways and in control of the Village is directed to erect and maintain signs designating the provisions of this section at each end of that portion of any highway affected by this section.
D. Enforcement: The Board of Trustees or any police officer of the Village is hereby authorized and empowered to enforce the provisions of this section and upon said highway being posted by signs limiting gross weights of vehicles pursuant to this section, it shall be his duty to prosecute all violations of this section. E. Engine Braking: No person shall operate or cause to be used or operated, within the limits of the Village, any engine braking system that emits an excessive noise, except in the case of emergency. For purposes of this section, "engine brake" is defined to include any mechanical exhaust device designed to aid in the braking or deceleration of any vehicle by converting engine power to compressed air. The Chief of Police shall provide notice of said prohibition by posting clearly visible signs at all truck routes entering the Village stating:
EXCESSIVE ENGINE BRAKING NOISE PROHIBITED
