(A) Direct deposit (electronic funds transfer) is an increasingly common and accepted way of distributing payroll to employees. Direct deposit offers advantages to the county government and employees by making payroll more convenient and reducing the possibility of check fraud.
(B) A majority of county employees have expressed a desire to have their payroll deposited directly into their savings or checking accounts through electronic funds transfer.
(C) The County Board authorizes the County Treasurer to implement a direct deposit program.
(D) Existing employees will be given the option of receiving their payroll via direct deposit or paper check. All new employees of the county hired on or after September 17, 2007 shall be required to have their payroll deposited by electronic funds transfer.
