§ 159.18 SIGNS.
All signs must meet current village codes and ordinances. In addition, the following shall serve as general guidelines for review of sign proposals:
   (A)   Every sign shall have a sufficient scale and proportion in its design and in its visual relationship to buildings and surroundings.
   (B)   Every sign shall be designed as an integral architectural element of the building and site to which it principally relates.
   (C)   The number of graphic elements on a sign shall be held to the minimum needed to convey the sign’s major message, and shall be composed in proportion to the area of the sign face.
   (D)   Each sign shall be compatible with signs on adjoining premises and shall not compete for attention.
   (E)   Colors shall be used harmoniously and with restraint. Excessive brightness and brilliant colors shall be avoided.
   (F)   Lighting shall be harmonious with the design. If external spot or floor light is used, it shall be arranged so that the light source is shielded from view. Backlit block signage shall be discouraged.
   (G)   Wall signs shall be part of the architectural concept. Size, color, lettering, location, and arrangement shall be harmonious with the building design and other surrounding designs as well.
