The purpose of these design guidelines is to establish criteria for the remodeling of existing structures within the established program area (see Exhibit 1 attached to Ord. 1818). These criteria are not intended to restrict imagination, innovation, or variety, but rather to assist in focusing on design principles, which can result in an improved appearance within the village, preserve and increase taxable values, and promote the public health, safety, and welfare.
