(A) There is hereby created a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, (hereafter “Board”), consisting of three members whose terms of office shall be three years and until their respective successors are appointed to this Board and have qualified, except that the terms of the first three members appointed shall be [as described]: one of the members shall be appointed to serve until the end of the then current municipal year, (for convenience, sometimes referred to as Commissioner 1); another to serve until the end of the municipal fiscal year next ensuing, (for convenience, sometimes referred to as Commissioner 2); and the third to serve until the end of the municipal fiscal year second next ensuing (for convenience, sometimes referred to as Commissioner 3).
(B) The Board members shall elect a Chairperson to serve during each municipal fiscal year. Vacancies on the Board shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment of the member whose office is vacant.
