Any sign lawfully existing, under construction or which becomes nonconforming because of annexation of land on which it is located, on the adoption date of this chapter which does not conform to the provisions contained herein, may be continued, but not be replaced, structurally altered or reestablished (if discontinued), or continued if destroyed or damaged to the extent of fifty percent (50%) or more.
