When the police department receives notification of an abandoned watercraft in the village, the police department shall be authorized to comply with the lost and abandoned watercraft provisions of 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 45/3-1 et seq., as that statute may be amended from time to time, following receipt of an application from the person on whose property the watercraft is located on forms provided by the village clerk.
