§ 153.01 PLANNING COMMISSION CREATED.
   (A)   In accordance with Act No. 285 of the Michigan Public Acts of 1931, as amended (M.C.L.A. §§125.31 et seq.), a Village Planning Commission consisting of five members is hereby established. All of the members shall be residents of the village, and shall insofar as possible, represent different trades, occupations, and professions, four of whom shall not hold any other municipal office. One member shall be a member of the Village Council, ex officio, selected by the Council.
   (B)   The Village President shall appoint four members of the Commission, subject to the approval of Village Council by majority vote. The terms of such members shall commence on May 1 and shall be for three years, except that one member of the first Planning Commission to be appointed shall serve for a term of one year, two for a term of two years and two for a term of three years. The Council member shall be selected by resolution of the Council and shall serve for a term of one year, but the term shall not exceed the member's term of office as a member of the Council.
   (C)   All members of the Commission shall have full voting rights. All members shall hold office until their successors take office. Members of the Commission other than the member selected by the Council may, after a public hearing, be removed by the President for inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance in office. The Council may, for like cause, remove the member selected by the Council. Vacancies occurring otherwise than through the expiration of term shall be filled for the remainder of the term, by the President in the case of a member appointed by the President and by the Council in the case of the member appointed by the Council.
   (D)   Members of the Planning Commission shall be compensated at a rate determined by resolution of the Village Council.
