165.01 RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT.
   (a)   Any person appointed to a position in the classified or unclassified service under Ohio R.C. 124.01 through 124.64 shall within one year from such appointment reside within a ten-mile radius from the intersection of the centerline of Main Street and Tiffin Street in the City and shall have private telephone communication from his/her residence with the City without toll charge. In the event either of the requirements is not fulfilled, the employee may be terminated. This section is to be applied retroactively to include all current employees, as this was the initial intent of the original ordinance. With valid acceptable cause, such as licenses, certificates or permits, the Safety-Service Director may temporarily extend the time period for relocation or waive the residency requirement.    (b)   The requirements and exceptions of Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 9.481 shall apply.
