3-1-1: APPOINTMENT; TERMS:
There is hereby created a commission to be known as and designated the zoning commission, which such commission shall consist of five (5) members to be appointed by the mayor, one of whom must be a member of the city council and the other four (4) may or may not be members of the city council at the discretion of the mayor, but must be residents of the city. The effective date of this section shall be the first regular meeting held by the city of Forsyth, in the month of January 2003.
On the effective date hereof, the mayor shall appoint one member of said commission to hold office for one year, and two (2) to hold the office for two (2) years, and two (2) to hold the office for three (3) years; and thereafter as the term of each such member expires, the mayor shall appoint a commissioner for the term of three (3) years and until his successor is appointed.
Any commissioner, other than a city council member, may be discharged from the office at any time for cause by the mayor with the concurrence of three (3) other city council members.
In the event a commissioner is a city council member, and no longer serves in that capacity, the appointment to the commission terminates upon their departure from office. (Ord. 2002-12, 11-12-2002, eff. 12-12-2002)
