2-2-1: DEFINITIONS:
For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall be construed to have the meaning herein ascribed thereto:
PEDDLERS: Any person who shall sell or offer for sale at wholesale, retail or as a commissioned merchant, or barter or exchange any goods, wares, merchandise, or fruit or vegetables traveling from place to place along or among the streets or alleys of the village, or from private property, or at the doors of houses, apartments or stores; or who shall offer for sale or sale and delivery immediately from a wagon or other vehicle or stand, shall for the purpose of this chapter be deemed a peddler.
SOLICITING: Any one or more of the following activities:
   A.   Seeking to obtain orders for the purchase of goods, wares, merchandise, foodstuffs, services of any kind, character or description whatever, for any kind of consideration; or
   B.   Seeking to obtain prospective customers for application or purchase of insurance of any type, kind or character; or
   C.   Seeking to obtain subscriptions to books, magazines, periodicals, newspapers and every other type or kind of publication; or
   D.   Seeking to obtain gifts or contributions of money, clothing or any other valuable thing for the support or benefit of any charitable or nonprofit association, organization, corporation or project. (Ord. 2004-17, 12-20-2004, eff. 12-30-2004)
