§ 73.17 FIRE LANES, PARKING RESTRICTIONS; EXCEPTIONS.
   (A)   Fire lanes.
      (1)   A fire lane shall be established on one side of each street in the city except state highways and divided highways.
      (2)   The fire lane, where practicable, shall be the entire one-half of the paved portion of the street that is adjacent to an official system of fire hydrants.
   (B)   Parking restrictions.
      (1)   Parking shall be prohibited upon the paved portion of any fire lane when official “No parking” signs have been posted.
      (2)   Parking shall be prohibited in the city right-of-way and planting strips, both on curbed and uncurbed streets, adjacent to any fire lane.
   (C)   Exceptions.
      (1)   Parking shall be permitted on paved private driveways in city right-of-ways providing there is sufficient space so that no portion of any vehicle extends into the traveled portion of the roadway or over the public sidewalk and further provided that no vehicle shall be parked closer than ten feet to a fire hydrant.
      (2)   The City Manager is hereby authorized to temporarily vary the terms of this section in the interest of public safety and when unusual circumstances are present that would reasonably suggest a change in fire lanes or a relaxation of parking restrictions in certain areas.
      (3)   Parking shall be prohibited upon the paved portion of any fire lane or within 25 feet of edge of pavement when official no parking signs have been posted.
